Description
Our dehydrated coco coir is designed for optimal mycelial growth, offering balanced pH, excellent moisture retention, proper gas exchange, and essential trace minerals for your mushroom cultivation. Specifically researched and selected for its mushroom-growing properties, coco coir can be used both as a casing layer and as a substrate additive. It is also a premium substrate for indoor or outdoor plant cultivation.
Triple-washed and buffered to adjust pH and nutrient levels, coco coir provides an ideal air-to-water ratio, making it suitable for gourmet and medicinal mushroom cultivation. Our coco coir meets the highest substrate standards; it is naturally free of pests and weed seeds. Made from coconut husks, coco coir is biodegradable, 100% renewable, and contains traces of magnesium and calcium that support healthy mushroom growth.
Coco coir is popular in mushroom cultivation due to its microbial resistance, moisture retention, and nutrient content. It is commonly used as a casing layer in monotubs or as a substrate additive, but it can also serve as an alternative to peat moss in garden beds.
How to Use:
-
As a casing layer: Apply only to fully-colonized substrate covered with mycelium, with well-developed primordia or pins beginning to form. Use a thin layer of coco coir (1/4 to 1/2 inch).
-
In bulk substrate: After rehydration, mix coco coir with other ingredients according to your bulk recipe. Pasteurize or sterilize after mixing.
