Penis Envy Mushroom Liquid Culture

Penis Envy is a distinctive Psilocybe cubensis strain known for its unusual appearance, high potency, and dense, substantial fruits. It typically produces thick, pale stems with small, rounded caps that often remain partially closed at maturity, giving the mushrooms their characteristic phallic shape and namesake. Compared with many cubensis varieties, Penis Envy tends to grow more slowly and can be less prolific, producing fewer but heavier, denser mushrooms. Its combination of recognizable morphology, slower growth, and unusual fruiting characteristics has made Penis Envy one of the most well-known varieties of P. cubensis.

The exact origins of Penis Envy are surrounded by some uncertainty, but the strain is commonly linked to American ethnobotanist Terence McKenna and specimens reportedly collected in the Colombian Amazon during the 1970s. According to the most widely circulated account, cultivator Steven Pollock later worked with this genetic line and selectively developed mushrooms displaying the unusually thick stems and small caps that became characteristic of Penis Envy. While parts of this story are difficult to independently verify, the strain went on to become one of the most recognizable Psilocybe cubensis varieties and has since served as the genetic foundation for numerous modern Penis Envy crosses and variants.

Penis Envy is easily recognized by its thick, dense stems and relatively small, rounded caps, which together create the distinctive phallic appearance behind its name. The stems are typically pale white to cream, while the caps range from light tan to golden brown and often remain partially closed even as the mushroom matures. Compared with many other Psilocybe cubensis varieties, Penis Envy is known for slower, less prolific growth, generally producing fewer but noticeably thicker and heavier fruits. Its dense structure, unusual proportions, and tendency to develop chunky clusters give it a distinctive appearance that is easy to differentiate from more typical cubensis varieties.

In the wild Penis Envy Vuitton strain thrives in subtropical high humidity environments with nutrient rich soils.

Preferred spawn: Sterilized Rye

Preferred substrate: Sterilized CVG
