Thai Elephant Dung Magic Mushroom History

The Thai Elephant Dung strain was said to be first discovered by the famous mycologist John W. Allen, who is responsible for documenting over 30 strains of psilocybe cubensis. It is said that John Allen first discovered the strain on the island of Koh Samui, Thailand, where the Koh Samui Super Strain was also discovered.

As the name suggests, the Thai Elephant Dung mushroom was found growing on or near some big steaming stockpile of elephant excrement. It is believed that the strain was able to thrive in Thailand’s tropical climate while at the same time taking advantage of the nutrient dense poop of elephants.

After discovering the mushrooms, John W. Allen was able to take spore prints from the fruits that he would later on cultivate himself as well as send back home to his fellow mycologist friends.

Growing Thai Elephant Dung Psychedelic Mushrooms

The Thai Elephant Dung is a beautiful tropical psilocybe cubensis strain. With its roots from Thailand, the strain is accustomed to tropical climates.

Rye berries or whole oats are recommended to be used as the grain spawn for Thai Elephant Dung due to their accessibility and nutrient density. Thai Elephant Dung spores will be able to germinate the spawn the fastest with temperatures ranging from 28°C and 30°C. Although the temperatures are quite high, it is needed for the rhizomorphic mycelium that the strain possesses to colonize the grain quickly. High temperatures are welcoming to contaminants but the Thai Elephant Dung strain is well known for its resistance to contaminants.

With its heritage rooted in Thailand, the Thai Elephant Dung strain definitely prefers tropical climate conditions during the fruiting stage. Maintaining a temperature range of 24°C and 26°C along with a relative humidity level above 95 percent would be sufficient for amazing fruits.

From being found near elephant excrements as well as other animal excrements, the Thai Elephant Dung strain has shown how it has the ability to thrive from a number of substrates, including Planet Spore’s in-house mushroom substrate

Appearance of the Thai Elephant Dung Mushroom Strain

Thai Elephant Dung mushrooms are a very elegant looking psilocybe cubensis. They are a medium-sized cubensis that tend to grow to be quite tall and slender, while maintaining a beautiful form.

The mushroom cap shape of the Thai Elephant Dung strain ranges from convex to conic-convex to bell-shaped. The caps could be any of these shapes depending on the stage that the mushroom is at during the fruiting stages. Often carrying a nipple-shaped umbo in the middle of the cap. The caps tend to hold a color similar to straw while in the beginning stages of fruiting. As the mushroom matures the color will deepen to a chestnut color or reddish-brown. Average caps sizes range from 0.75 to 2 centimeters in diameter.

The stems of the Thai Elephant Dung mushrooms are quite white in color in their early fruiting stages. As they mature, the stems take on a yellowish-brown hue that is covered with fibrillose from veil remnants. They can reach heights of 6 cm on average, but the range can be anywhere from 4 centimeters to 8 centimeters, with a diameter ranging from 1 to 3 millimeters. The diameter of the stems tend to be thicker at the base while tapering off as it reaches the cap.

Effects of Thai Elephant Dung Magic Mushrooms

The first effects users of the Thai Elephant Dung magic mushroom will experience is a mild body high that includes an uplifting feeling with minor body vibrations along with minor nausea. Soon after those initial effects subside and users will be blessed with an enhanced mood.

During the top height of the high, users may experience bright and explosive visuals that at times are accompanied by mild hallucinations. Euphoric feelings will be intense along with lots of laughter. This particular strain is not known for spirituality trips, but more for socializing. Expect lots of laughter with those around and a calming come down and an after-glow that will leave users with a boosted mood.
