History of the Treasure Coast Psychedelic Mushroom

Like many other psilocybin cubensis strains, the history of the magic mushroom strain, Treasure Coast, is relatively mysterious. 

What we do know about the Treasure Coast mushroom strain is that the strain was first discovered in Florida, United States of America. The discovery was made on the east coast of Florida, somewhere within the region known as “Treasure Coast”. The name of the region is referring to the lost treasure of the Spanish Treasure Fleet that was lost due to a hurricane in the year 1715. Being discovered in this region is how the mushroom strain inherited the name. 

The Treasure Coast psychedelic mushroom strain enjoys hot and moist weather, so it is no surprise that the psilocybin cubensis was discovered in this region. This particular area is a humid subtropical region, which served as optimal conditions for these mushrooms to grow. 

Growing Treasure Coast Magic Mushrooms

Alongside above moderate psilocybin potency, the Treasure Coast mushroom strain has many other upsides that encourages many to grow this particular strain. The Treasure Coast strain is known to be forgiving  and typically produces considerable yields. 

Not only is the Treasure Coast psychedelic mushroom strain a quick colonizer, it is also quite a forgiving strain. The strain has a high level of resistance to contaminants but can be finicky to work with. Although it is a fast colonizing strain, it takes its time to fruit. If the temperature approaches 30°C it may stunt growth and encourage contaminations, it is recommended the temperature remains around 25°C during the fruiting stage. The Treasure Coast strain flourishes with high humidity, it is recommended to have the relative humidity (RH) level at 99% if possible during the fruiting stage. For this particularly moisture loving strain, using a casing layer on top of the substrate is highly recommended. 

With the right conditions, growers can expect large overall yields. Treasure Coast strain is known to be able to have multiple flushes, often being able to still produce large fruits on the fourth flush. 

Appearance of Treasure Coast Magic Mushroom Strain 

Treasure Coast mushrooms grow to be fairly dense for a psilocybin mushroom. The strain’s tendency to grow in clusters may be the reason they are so dense. They are not known to grow to be very tall mushrooms at all. 

The stems of the Treasure Coast mushroom strain are on average roughly 50-125mm in length. The color of the stems are generally white with a yellow tinge. The stems are susceptible to bruising, once bruised, the area can take on a bluish-green color. 

Treasure Coast mushroom caps tend to range from 15-25 mm in diameter. Generally they are quite bulbous in shape and soft golden light brown in color. At times they may fruit to be a  more light caramel color, this may be dependent on their lighting situation during the fruiting stage.

Being a psilocybe cubensis, the Treasure Coast strain is loaded with psilocybin. These magic mushrooms contain such high levels of psilocybin that making tea with them is a viable option, without sacrificing potency. 

The initial effect of consuming the Treasure Coast magic mushroom differs from other psilocybin mushrooms. Initially, within 15-30 minutes of consumption, users can experience a very strong body high that has been reported to be quite an immense feeling. The body may experience a sort of buzzing, chilling feeling along with a throbbing head. Soon afterwards though, the immense effects and feelings will dwindle down.
