Mazatapec Magic Mushroom History
The Mazatapec magic mushroom has a particularly unique history. The Mazatapec mushroom strain originates from southern Mexico, particularly in and around the state of Oaxaca,
It is believed that the indigenous people from Oaxaca, Mexico, also known as the Mazatec people used to use psychedelic mushrooms in their shaman ceremonies. For generations the Mazatec people used these magic mushrooms as a tool to further enhance their spirituality and increase their connection to nature. Even today, magic mushrooms are still used as a part of cultural traditions. There is no concrete evidence, but it is generally agreed on that the magic mushrooms that were being used by the Mazatec people was the strain that we know today as Mazapatec.
In 1955, mycologist Robert Gordon Wasson and his team of researchers traveled to Huautla de Jiménez, Oaxaca, Mexico, to study the use of psilocybin mushrooms in the shamanic rituals. At the time, Wasson had no idea how large of an impact his research would have. Wasson released a photo essay two years after his experience in Huautla de Jiménez, the photo essay was titled “Seeking The Magic Mushroom”. In the photo essay, Wasson was able to outline his experience participating in a Mazatec ceremony and to describe the psychoactive effects of the magic mushrooms that were used. The essay was written in a first person narrative, appearing in the May 13, 1957, issue of Life magazine. This made quite an extensive impact on the world and gave birth to the psychedelic revolution.
Growing Mazatapec Mushrooms
Mazatapec is known to be an ‘easier’ strain to grow. This may be due to the fact that the Mazatapec strain is one of the most resistant to contaminate psilocybe cubensis’, making it a great choice for beginner cultivators.
The Mazatapec strain, like many of the other psilocybe cubensis, thrive in subtropical and tropical climates. Ensuring the temperature does not drop too low (>20°C) is highly recommended for this particular strain to thrive. It has been recorded to have a very strong rhizomorphic mycelium. Mazatapec is known to be a slow grower compared to some of the other magic mushroom strains, but it’s ability to combat contaminants and tendency to fruit abundantly makes it a popular strain to cultivate by many enthusiasts.
Mazatapec magic mushroom spores colonize well with most common spawns, although rye or oat mushroom spawn remains our personal favorite. As for substrate Maz. zooms can grow using coco coir, vermiculite, and manure based soils. We offer a fully optimized mushroom fruiting substrate for those who want to save time and maximize their growing potential.
Appearance of the Mazatapec Strain
With the right conditions, Mazatapec magic mushrooms grow greatly. Their stems are off pale-white that are thicker at the bottom then tapers up towards the mushroom cap. The stems generally are in the range of 75-125 mm in length, while the caps are 50+ mm in diameter. The caps are the dark brown color that matures to a more golden brown.
Psychedelic Effects of Mazatapec Mushrooms
The Mazatapec psychedelic mushroom is well renowned for it’s proficiency to assist users in embracing their spiritual side. You will be able to experience a heightened sense of self as well as a deeper understanding of the world around you.
The Mazatapec strain is great for beginners or anyone that is looking for a spiritual expedition, depending on the dosage. Effects also include visual stimulation, visual effects, joyfulness, and emotional euphoric feelings.
