Description
REMOVE vacuum-sealed transport bags, prior to inoculation.
Sterilized mushroom grain spawn in a gusseted 3T 0.2 micron autoclave spawn bag with filter patch. Planet Spore’s rye berry grain spawn is composed of 100% natural premium rye berries which are commonly regarded as the best grain spawn for for mushroom cultivation. Our grain spawn is free of chemicals or any additives and is recommended for use in conjunction with our pre-sterilized mushroom fruiting bulk substrate.
Once the grain spawn is fully colonized, we recommend mixing it with our mushroom fruiting bulk substrate. We recommend using a three bulk substrate to one grain spawn ratio for optimal yields. You may also perform what is called a grain transfer. A grain transfer is taking your colonized grain spawn and transferring it to more sterilized grain to promote further propagation of mushroom mycelium growth. Generally you can transfer one bag of fully colonized grain spawn to five to ten bags of sterilized grain (depending on the weight of the initial bag).
Our rye berry grain spawn goes through a rigorous process before it is ready for final sale. First we thoroughly wash the grains, then soaking them for 24 hours in a gypsum water bath which ensures optimal mineral levels. After the soak the grain is simmered for 10 minutes in clean water. The rye berry grain spawn is then sterilized at 15 PSI in a lab grade autoclave for 2 hours.
The product comes impulse sealed in sterile, 3T 0.2 micron autoclave spawn bag with filter patch and may be stored at room temperature for up to 2 weeks. If more time is needed, it can be put in a freezer until later use.

More familiar with Walmart WBS & sterilizing into jars myself, for the price I decided to give this a go. First time inoculating grain spawn in a bag. It seemed more dry than I’m used to, or prefer. Mycelium is growing in it, though I’m unsure if it’s the genetics of the LC I chose, or the conditions of the grain spawn in the bag. I’m 14 days in with only about 20% colonization from an LC syringe. I’ve had spore syringes colonize faster..
Grain spawn is hydrated at 45%, anymore than this and you start to run into too many burst grains. The spawn looks great. Force some air into the bag through the filter patch and break the spawn up, dispersing the mycelium evenly throughout the bag. This will speed colonization up.
It works
Excellent packaging and shipping speed. products all working as expected, great customer service with any of my questions. Definitely earned a repeat customer
Works every time!
Definitely a good purchase 👌
Might have just been unlucky but my grain had too much moisture so ended up stalling my strain and getting contaminated
Quick service
